We have a sick house

Yeppers we have a strain of the flu going through my house right now. Nothing worse than being sick in the summer time. It all started out with 1 of my daycare children being sick the end of last week, then the family sent her on Monday saying she was fine and dandy.....well to make a long story short (and spare you the details) she was not and I had to send her home early. Well Mom called to say she wasn't feeling good either and going home to rest. Well Tuesday came and the mom was still sick, Wednesday both of my kiddos where at there games/practice and came home complaining of a stomache. Well by 10 pm Marissa was sick we finally got her to sleep about Midnight and up again at 2 am. Then bey 4:15 am Zachary was up with it. I was going to call my parents and tell them my kids where sick, but I thought you know what they send their kids sick and this is my house so they can "Deal" with it. Well I didn't really have to worry because 2 other moms called me and said the kids wouldn't be coming because the kids had a fever and vomitting. So there you go they are all passing it to each other. Well the dad of the sick one I mentioned earlier brought his daughter on Thursday am and said if you need anything call me because I will be home sick with this flu/bug thats going around.

Well its not Friday am and Thursday afternoon went good for both of my kids no getting sick, just relaxed and watched a couple movies so Marissa wanted to go to her soccer game and cheer her team on but not play, so I thought that would be ok she felt better. Well the team lost they where actually short 1 player because other kids where sick. Now being Friday am, Zachary started getting sick all over again. I just went through yesterday and bleached things to disinfect now I have to do it again and I will be leaving for school this afternoon and not coming back till Sunday. Thank god for a great daddy to take care of him and tonite he is going to his grandmas house so he will get all the TLC he needs.

I hope everyone at the other end of this stays healthy and has a great weekend. We will be preparing for Marissa's 12th bday next weekend. We asked her what she wanted to do for a party she mentioned have it at the ball park. Well its $14 per person and I just know having it there parents will want to be there and bring there family and how do you really ask someone you have to pay yourself? I really didn't want to pay all that money for "extras" so we decided to go away for 3 days for a mini vacation. She is excited because we will catch a couple baseball games, get to see fireworks 2 nights in a row, and she will get to go shopping at a different mall. What else could a girl want? Well with Marissa only god knows!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We will keep you posted as to how that weekend goes and what she gets good for her bday. (We know most of it already, she just doesn't know. Man I hated being a kid and having people say that, but now paybacks I get to say it.) LOL

Kelley's Wedding

On Saturday June 21, 2008 at 4 pm Kelley and Julius (Jay) finally tied the knot. The wedding and reception where both held at the Holiday Inn, in Auburn on a gorgeous Sunny day, until it was time for pictures then the rain came pouring down. Our MOTHER had worked something up for the transportation to Hoopes for pictures, which scared the SHIT out of Kelley at first. Mary had Dan Emmi from the Auburn Police Dept. there in uniform and with his fleet of antique police cars. Kelley, Jay, Stephan (best man) & myself (matron honor) where in the front in the Paddy Wagon. Zachary got all nerveous and thought they where taking us away, so the ring bearers and little Jay & J'anne got to go with us also. If you could just see the look on her face when she saw the cop and he asked for them you would die. Dan says to us "If you where to put that on Funny Home videos I bet you would win something" I can't wait to get the pictures from the photographer so we can see the actual look. That Damn Mary can really pull off some crap when she wants to. LOL

Here are some pictures and sorry for the blur to some of them, but thats what happens when you let a 12 yr old have the camera to take pictures and not pay attention to the fact if she hit a button to change the type of pictures being taken. But oh well there will be plenty of pictures to go around. Thanks Marissa for taking the pictures for me otherwise I would have to wait till others share theirs.

Waiting at Hoopes hoping the rain will let up so we can get some nice pictures. Jay thought this would be a nice shot under the umbrella so we took it. Hey it might be better than the photographers pictures.

Doing the deed.

The Saurini Family (don't mind Marissa she came straight from her softball game.)

Zachary & his nonnie Judi & Papa Tony. Isn't he the cutest thing?

Wednesday night was Zachary's preschool graduation. It hard to believe that he will be entering Kindergarten in September already. He is ready and keeps asking if its time to go yet. I keep telling him don't rush it honey because you have many years ahead of you for education enjoy this play time while you have it. The Y had a little graduation ceremony for the kids and cake afterwards. I just love how cute they are in their little caps.

Marissa

1st soccer game this season....oh no did it go in?

Playing 3rd base in 1st softball game of the season.

I can hit...............just pitch it to me.

Just doing a update on Marissa. She is now officially going into the 7th grade. Where has the time gone? In 2 weeks she will be 12. I can still remember the day when I had her. She was a tiny little thing and cute as a button. Well as 12 yrs has passed she has only gotten prettier, but man she has got LEGS!!!!!!!!! She is almost as tall as myself and still growing. Pretty soon we will be wearing the same size tops, and shoes, which could be a good thing for me but not for her. Who wants to see there mom in their clothes right?

Posting a few pictures of her recently.

Nursing School

Well for those of you that don't know, I started my official trek to Nursing School. I arrived on Friday afternoon to a pig pen of a dorm room. Yup....not cleaned at all I swear the girls before hand just took what they wanted and left everything else. Well it was 90 out and no AC so I spent 2 hours before class emptying the actual dorm out and then cleaning. I am so glad I brought my bleach/water mixture. People where walking by and laughing because of the smell of bleach. Oh well I was cleaning before I stayed there. After about 2 hrs of me cleaning my room mate showed up and she is awesome. Very funny, and better yet a spanish teacher for highschoolers. She is going to come in handy for when Marissa starts taking Spanish next year. Thank God because I don't know the first thing about spanish.

Well we went to class and it was very nerve wrecking at first, but then ok for me atleast. Alot of this weekend was review for me seeing I was a CNA and done things such as make a bed, occupied & unoccupied, peri-wash, fire safety, restraints, and so on. I'm sure the next weekend I go will be a whirlwind for me.

Anyway, after a long weekend I was able to come home to a clean house and that made me feel great, and thankful for a wonderful family. Not only for cleaning, but allowing me to take this road in my life. Thanks goes out to all of the family & friends that are supporting me with this next 2 years of crazy schedules for me to become a RN.

Zachary Update

I'm going to post this update instead of speaking to all of you individually regarding Zachary. I hate to keep repeating this because all it does is bring me down, and then I feel awful and get stressed out. I'm not sure how many of you know but Zachary has 2 different syndromes they have diagnosed him with. 1) Goldenhar Syndrome 2) Jaffe Campanacci Syndrome. Since he was born we have been trying to get to the bottom of all of this and just when I thought we where ok and doing good something else comes to a bubble.

Last May when Zachary had his 4yr physical I mentioned to the Dr. that he is always falling and when he stands at the TV it looks like he is lifting his left foot off the ground. Almost like its shorter than the other. Well after the examination Dr. Anwer confirmed yes it is shorter than the other and he would like to refer him to a bone specialist. Well we went in June to see Dr. Albanese, and he did xrays and looked at him, got full medical history. Well during that visit he sent us across the hall to another dr. for his opinion. Well Dr. Damron was very concerned and sent us for more xrays. Together they confirmed yes he has 1 leg longer than the other and it was by about 1 cm difference. He decided he wanted to see him back in 6 months and re-xray him and see if there was a larger or smaller difference. Well we went back in December and the difference was then at about 2cm difference. Dr. Damron decided to have another dr. look at Zachary and see what they though. Now we are seeing Dr. Palomino. She ordered for Zachary to wear a shoe lift in his left shoe and see if he could handle it. My question was can he play his sports that he so loves. At that point she said yes as long as it doesn't bother him and he is ok. So on with hockey season, and swimming for Zachary it was. Well he doesn't wear the shoe lift because he says it makes his leg hurt (which the dr. said is a possibility), and he is still falling and what not. We just went back last week and got some not so good news. Zachary has limits on EVERYTHING now. No hockey, wrestling, basketball, no-contact sports basically. Well I asked about baseball because thats his life right now, and she said for now ok, but eventually no! I can't imagine the day I have to explain that one to him. Dr. mentioned at the last appointment doing surgery about the leg difference, but after this set of xrays she said it wouldn't be possible because his bone is so weak. She is VERY surprised he has not had a break or fracture yet in it. Thank God for that because keeping Zachary down is almost impossible. So they are in the middle of trying to figure out what step to take next. They are working on getting us into a genetics dr, and endocronologist thinking maybe he has a defiency somewhere. There was also talk about a bone graft but not positive on that yet.

Thank god Zachary is a great kid and loves making people laugh himself, so that way he isn't thinking about his issues. Could be because he is so young it doesn't phase him yet and he has dealt with these issues since birth so to him its just life. When Zachary goes to school he will not be able to do gym class, and they don't want him walking more than 1/2 mile at a time because of the stress on that weak bone. The easiest way to explain what is on his bones, that was told to us at the beginning (I looked it up more so know more now) was he had tumors on his bones. They are benign so no worry there thank god again.

I keep asking why us? Marissa was born with her heart problem and now Zachary with his issues. I guess what it really does come down to is God doesn't give you more than you can handle and figures we are strong enough and knowledgeable enough to follow through with this and see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope we are getting closer because really I don't know how much more I can take of this with my own life getting crazy with me starting my Nursing School this weekend.

If I haven't been clear on anything or you have any questions please do feel free to contact me. I am sure I can explain better in person, but thought it would be easier to just post it. So please do all think about Zachary and hope and pray that we will get this figured out and he can go back to do what he loves the most and thats being a typical little boy with lots and I mean LOTS of energy playing everything his little heart desires.

Busy times

Sorry for not updating recently but we have had a week of fun. We started the week off by going to Marissa's school to watch her get an award. She got the 5 for 5 award which is for students that have made the honor/high honor roll all 5 marking periods. Not sure how many students in her 6th grade class, but 86 of them got this award. I am so proud of her and keep telling her all that hard work and organization pays off.

The next picture is from when I took Zachary to the Circus. It was a lot of fun and the acrobats where just amazing.

Zachary had a baseball game again on Saturday and won. He hit the ball 3 times but only got to base safely 2 times. His poor little legs just can't move him fast enough. Here he is in the catchers outfit

Memorial Day parade

Sorry in the late posting of these pictures but I am behind in everything lately. These are from the Memorial Day Parade that both kids where in. I haven't received any pictures of them actually in the parade because a friend of our took the pictures because I was walking with Zachary in the Parade. So these pictures of them lining up will have to do for now.

Zachary and his friend Jack. They both play baseball for Auburn Boys & Girls

Here is Marissa lining up for band in the parade. She is such a poser!

Pain is good for the Soul..........

Well I started out working on the new me. Monday I started working out with a personal trainer at the Y and so far its been great. I go with her 2 days a week and then 2 days on my own. She was pretty easy on us for the first day, then Tuesday I worked myself because I find I don't push myself hard enough I just go through the motion. Well Wednesday night she worked us good. I believe the saying "Pain is good for the Soul" is true and so worth it in the end most times. This is a 7 week program and I can't wait for the 7 weeks to end so I can see my success. What am I trying to get out of this? Well I am trying to get myself in shape for many reasons, myself, health, the children and just to enjoy life.

I am not obese, but a little overweight. You really can't tell because I carry my weight so well, but I don't want to hide it anymore. Being in my sisters wedding has made me make part of this decision. I keep saying I don't want to look terrible and ruin her day, so I have been KINDA watching what I eat and lost almost 10 lbs. Now I am going to keep working out and watching what I eat. I figure with the workouts included I should lose another 10 easily! So watch for updates on the new me and will post pics after I am done in July sometime with the trainer.

So I am asking you all to please keep me encouraged and it will make this adventure easier and more motivating.
